Who We Are

The Independent Research Group for Compliance & Certifications (IRGCC) is a not-for-profit engineering and research organisation dedicated to improving the safety, reliability, and compliance of mechanical and electrical systems across North America and the United Kingdom.

We conduct unbiased, standards-based research designed to help manufacturers, facility operators, regulators, and educational institutions better understand the requirements, responsibilities, and risks associated with modern electromechanical equipment.

Our work bridges the gap between engineering design, regulatory frameworks, and real-world field safety.

What We Do

Independent Compliance Research

We investigate how mechanical and electrical systems align with UKCA, CE, UL, CSA, and other regulatory and certification requirements. Our findings help industry stakeholders make informed decisions grounded in evidence and standards.

Technical Assessments & Framework Reviews

IRGCC develops structured, engineering-based evaluation frameworks that allow systems to be reviewed against consistent, repeatable criteria—ensuring clarity, transparency, and reliability.

Industry Safety Studies

We examine risk factors, design practices, installation methods, and operational behaviours that influence the safety of electromechanical systems used in public and private facilities.

Education & Awareness

As an independent group, we share non-commercial research summaries, guidance notes, and technical briefs to help organizations navigate complex certification landscapes.

Why Our Work Matters

Modern systems—spanning automated seating, motor-driven equipment, lifting devices, and control assemblies—operate within highly regulated environments.

Yet many organisations struggle with:

Understanding certification obligations

Differentiating between certified components and certified systems

Identifying gaps between design intent and field conditions

Evaluating compliance risk exposure

Interpreting regulatory expectations

IRGCC provides clarity by grounding every conclusion in engineering evidence, standards, and technical analysis.

Our Research Approach

Engineering-Driven

All research is conducted by mechanical and electrical engineers with extensive experience in safety standards and certification pathways.

Independent & Unbiased

We do not sell products.
We do not certify equipment.
Our sole mandate is accuracy, transparency, and public safety.

Structured Methodology

We use documented frameworks, repeatable checklists, and standards-based scoring methods to ensure that findings are consistent and defensible.

Public Benefit Focus

Our mission is to promote safer systems and better decision-making across the industry.
